Reminder - it's Choir Picture Day!
 
Monday, December 18th is Choir Picture Day for the yearbook. Students will take their photos during their individual class periods.
 
Students will need their full concert attire, including socks and shoes (and bow ties! And hair ties!).
There will be time for students to change before and after the photos.
 
Each ensemble will take a photo for the yearbook. Follow the link below to download and print the picture order form if you wish to purchase a photo package. There is also an option to purchase individual or "buddy" photos in their dress, suit, or tuxedo.
 

On Friday, December 15th the Santa Monica High School Choral Music department will present the 18th annual "Motus Perpetuus," a beautiful and truly unique Winter Choral Concert of Perpetual Motion. During this concert, students sing and move throughout Barnum Hall, and applause is held until after the very last piece, so the music's motion can flow and continue without interruption. The result is a stunning concert experience!

Doors open for seating at 6:30pm, and the concert begins at 7:00pm.

Our annual winter concert, Motus Perpetuus features all the choirs in our program. Choir alums are invited to the stage to sing the Hallelujah Chorus and Samohi Hymn of Praise.

This concert is our most popular concert of the year and often sells out, so be sure to purchase tickets in advance.

Please note: there are NO APPLAUSE BREAKS during this concert, and students perform from around Barnum Hall—the aisles, the balcony, the rear of the theater, and the stage, so late arrivals are very disruptive. Because of the unique nature of this concert, we ask that attendees please plan to arrive early for parking and seating, and please refrain from exiting the auditorium during the concert, except in the case of emergency.

Samohi Choir's Sweet Serenade Concert, Auction & on-site Raffle is coming Saturday, October 21st at 6:00pm in the Centennial Quad! 

This fundraiser features an exciting online auction running now through October 29th, plus a beautiful concert event held under the stars at Santa Monica High School October 21st. The concert features all choral ensembles: Tenor-Bass and Treble Choruses, Samohi Chorale, Madrigal Ensemble and Chamber Singers all performing contemporary songs, as well as pieces from student-directed harmony and a cappella groups, small ensembles and soloists. With family-style table seating, delicious desserts for guests, an on-site raffle, plus our exciting online auction, SWEET SERENADE is the special event of the season!

Concert tickets are on sale now through Friday, October 20th onlyReserve a table in advance or purchase a general admission table ticket.

Tickets are $25 each for general admission table seating, and there are a limited number of reserved tables (seating for 10) available for $500.

This checklist has links to information & forms for the start of the 2023-24 school year. 

Please read below. Items that need to be filled out and submitted are due Monday, Sept. 18th. 

  • REQUIRED - Complete the 2023-24 Family Information Form. The steering committee sends out communications on behalf of Mr. Huls and the Samohi Choral Music program. Fill out this form every year that your student is in choir, and stay subscribed to the monthly emails.

  • REQUIRED  - Note the five concerts & other important dates from the list Calendar, and bookmark our Website Calendar - check back often!

  • REQUIRED - Learn about Sweet Serenade & Auction - Our online auction fundraiser will open October 9 and the Sweet Serenade concert is October 21!

    • Know a business that would like to donate to the auction? Share the auction donation form and letter. Two (2) solicitations per family will help us meet our goal!

  • OPTIONAL -  Order Spirit Wear  (hoodies, pjs, t-shirts)  -- most students wear their choir t-shirt at Sweet Serenade and other informal events; t-shirt orders due 9/18 to ensure delivery by Sweet Serenade.
